Rail passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Mumbai have a new overnight option, with the Vande Bharat Sleeper service inaugurated on Sunday 1 November 2026 at Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal in Bengaluru by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The regular service, numbered 27652, will run six days a week, excluding Mondays. It departs SMVT Bengaluru at 7:45 pm and reaches Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai at 11:55 am the following day, giving passengers a full overnight journey between the two cities.

The launch extends Indian Railways’ new sleeper network, which already covers the Varanasi-New Delhi route flagged off on 31 October and the Howrah-Guwahati corridor introduced earlier in 2026, bringing the modern sleeper train to one more major route.

The service is aimed at overnight travellers, including business passengers, students and families, who can board in the evening and arrive in the other city by late morning, saving a working day compared with daytime travel.

Railway officials say the Vande Bharat Sleeper brings upgraded onboard amenities and advanced safety features to overnight travel, continuing the government’s push to modernise long-distance trains with faster, more comfortable services.

The Bengaluru-Mumbai launch comes a day after the Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Sleeper was flagged off by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Minister Vaishnaw, underlining how quickly the new sleeper services are being added across the country.
