BJP Rohtak Padyatra: Nitin Nabin Flags Off Save Democracy March in Haryana
BJP national president Nitin Nabin flagged off the party’s Loktantra Bachao Arajakta Hatao (Save Democracy, End Anarchy) padyatra in Rohtak on Sunday 1 November 2026, turning Haryana Day into a major show of strength for the party in the state.
The march began from the Jat Educational Institution grounds in Rohtak and was scheduled to conclude at Bapu Park, where Nabin was to pay floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Party workers from 12 districts joined the march, according to the state unit.
Addressing the gathering at the flag-off, Nabin said every step taken in the foot march was taken to strengthen the democracy of the country, and that the march was being taken out with respect for the people’s mandate.
Senior BJP leaders joined the Rohtak programme, including Haryana in-charge Smriti Irani and co-in-charge Bhola Singh, while former Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan was also part of the event. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was in Kurukshetra on the day for the Haryana Day celebrations attended by President Droupadi Murmu.
The Rohtak march is part of the BJP’s nationwide Loktantra Bachao Arajakta Hatao campaign, through which the party says it is countering what it describes as misinformation, propaganda and orchestrated chaos by the opposition over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and allegations of vote theft. The opposition INDIA bloc held its own rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on the same day.
For the BJP, the Rohtak march was designed to take its position on the electoral roll revision directly to the public, with workers expected to reach villages and households as part of the campaign. The march route through Rohtak city, from the educational institution grounds to Bapu Park, drew a large turnout of party workers and supporters.
