Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Sunday, November 1, reviewed the progress of the Mukhyamantri Registry Yojana and directed officials to run it as a full-scale public campaign, so that no eligible rural landowner is left without a permanent registration of his land.

Under the scheme, the state government bears the stamp duty cost of the permanent registration, known as pukki registry, for landowners who hold a patta for their plot or house but have not yet completed its formal registration.

Revenue Department Principal Secretary Dr E Ramesh Kumar told the review meeting at Samatva Bhavan in Bhopal that 12,87,252 registrations had been completed across the state by November 1, 2026. The government has set a target of taking that number to 20 lakh by November 15, and the Chief Minister asked officials to treat the remaining work as a campaign reaching every eligible household, with wide publicity so that no one misses out for want of information.

The scheme matters because a permanent revenue document is what gives a landowner secure legal ownership of his property. Once the pukki registry is done, the owner can buy or sell the property lawfully and can use the document for facilities such as a bank loan. The government says that giving landholders this firm documentary proof of their own property opens new doors to prosperity for rural families.

To give the campaign momentum in the villages, the Chief Minister directed that on Dhanteras, November 6, every minister, Member of Parliament and MLA should visit his ancestral village or a village of his choice and ensure 100 per cent registration of eligible landowners there in his presence. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Chaitanya Kumar Kashyap and Minister of State for Public Health and Medical Education Narendra Shivaji Patel were present at the review meeting.

Eligible landowners are advised to keep their patta and identity documents ready and to contact their local revenue office for the process under the scheme. With the stamp duty borne by the state, the registration itself costs the beneficiary nothing, removing the financial barrier that had kept many rural families from completing their land records.
