Hisar Municipal Corporation has taken a big step towards repairing the city’s roads. Under the Mhari Sadak scheme, tenders have been issued for the repair and strengthening of 116 roads across Hisar. Development work will begin simultaneously in all 20 wards of the city, and the municipal corporation aims to complete the repair of all the identified roads within the next six months, so that residents get relief from potholes and broken streets. The scheme was drawn up keeping in view the long-standing problems of damaged roads, waterlogging and broken routes in the city.
According to the figures of the municipal corporation, the maximum work will take place in ward 14, where 33 streets will be repaired. After that, 26 streets in ward 20 and 11 streets in ward 13 will be taken up. Wards 3 and 4 will see eight streets each, ward 12 seven, ward 18 five, ward 1 four and ward 5 three. Two streets each in wards 8 and 9, and one street each in wards 7, 10 and 17, will also be repaired. The roads have been selected on the basis of complaints received from residents on the Mhari Sadak app.
The tenders for repair have been floated on the basis of the complaints received on the Mhari Sadak app itself. Municipal Engineer Sunil Lamba said that some roads have already been repaired and the remaining 116 roads will also be completed soon. In the same series of works, a new road will be built from Navdeep Colony to New Navdeep Colony in ward 19 at a cost of Rs 1.74 crore. This road will be constructed with interlocking paver blocks, and Mayor Praveen Popli has laid its foundation stone. Projects for improving roads in ward 18 had also been prepared earlier, which shows that road improvement work in the city is proceeding in a phased and continuous manner.
Once the tender process is complete, construction and repair work will begin, and the target is to make all the identified roads usable within six months. When the roads are repaired, residents will find commuting easier and the problem of waterlogging during the rainy season will also reduce.
