Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will hand over appointment letters to 2,067 candidates at the 18th state-level Nijukti Mela, the state government’s recruitment fair, with the main ceremony held in Bhubaneswar on 1 November 2026.

The selected candidates were recruited through the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) for the education sector. They include Sevaks, Sevikas and teachers recruited to teach in tribal languages, a group the state government says is central to improving schooling in tribal and remote areas.

About 1,000 of the appointees were to receive their appointment letters in person at the state-level event in Bhubaneswar, where the Chief Minister attends as chief guest. The remaining candidates were to receive their letters at district headquarters across Odisha.

The recruitment drive is aimed at addressing staff shortages in schools, particularly in tribal-dominated regions, and at helping children in remote areas receive quality education in their own mother tongue. Officials informed successful candidates about the programme schedule through SMS and WhatsApp messages on their registered mobile numbers.

The Nijukti Mela format compresses selection, verification and appointment into a single-day fair, with candidates receiving their offer letters on the spot rather than waiting through months of follow-up processes. The Majhi government has used the fairs as its most visible delivery mechanism for its youth-employment pledge since the BJP government took office in Odisha in June 2024.

For the new appointees, the letters mark their formal entry into state government service. For the state government, the 18th fair continues a series that has become a regular feature of its employment programme, putting appointment letters directly into the hands of young people from across Odisha’s districts.
