Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 54th meeting of PRAGATI, the ICT-enabled multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, at Seva Teerth, reviewing infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 16,000 crore across 31 states and union territories.

PRAGATI brings the Central and state governments together to resolve implementation bottlenecks and improve the delivery of projects and welfare schemes. During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed projects spanning the Railways, PM Ekta Malls and Bulk Drug Parks, with emphasis on timelines, inter-agency coordination and prompt resolution of issues.

On Ekta Malls, Modi underlined that they should serve as marketplaces for local products, strengthen artisans’ livelihoods and help them expand their businesses. He called for linking the malls with tourism and local enterprises, noting that rising demand could generate employment in rural production, packaging, storage and transportation. He also stressed that chief secretaries should review progress regularly to ensure timely completion of the malls.

Reviewing Bulk Drug Parks in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister stressed prioritising domestic production of active pharmaceutical ingredients and essential inputs, to strengthen the country’s self-reliance in pharmaceuticals.

He also called for faster redevelopment of major railway stations as multimodal transport hubs, and directed chief secretaries to review the implementation of welfare schemes with district magistrates every month, so that gaps are identified and eligible beneficiaries receive their entitlements on time.

In a post after the meeting, Modi said the focus was clear: substantive outcomes, timely execution and long-lasting benefits for people. The meeting reflected the platform’s core purpose — moving projects from approval to completion on schedule, with coordination between the Centre and states kept under the Prime Minister’s direct review.
