Haryana School Holidays November 2026: Diwali Weekend November 8-9 and Guru Nanak Jayanti November 24
Haryana’s November school calendar gives students two clear festive breaks: a Diwali weekend on 8 and 9 November 2026, and a gazetted holiday on Tuesday 24 November for Guru Nanak Jayanti.
Diwali itself falls on Sunday 8 November, so it merges with the weekly off. Schools and government offices then stay closed on Monday 9 November for Vishwakarma Puja, which the state holiday list marks as the Deepavali holiday. Together, the two days make a three-day festive weekend, and classes resume on Tuesday 10 November.
The second break comes later in the month. Guru Nanak Jayanti falls on Tuesday 24 November and is a gazetted holiday in Haryana, so schools remain closed that day and reopen on Wednesday 25 November. Parents planning travel around Gurpurab should note that no separate holiday is marked for 25 November.
Two festivals in between often cause confusion, and the calendar is clear on both. Bhai Dooj on Wednesday 11 November is a major festival in Haryana homes, but it is not on the state’s official holiday list, so schools are expected to run normally that day. Chhath Puja on Sunday 15 November appears only as a restricted holiday, which means schools and offices work as usual unless an institution grants it separately.
For today, Monday 2 November, there is no statewide school holiday in Haryana: schools in Gurugram, Faridabad and other cities are expected to hold regular classes unless a district administration or an individual school has announced a separate closure.
The dates above come from the state government’s notified 2026 holiday list. Many private schools announce their own Diwali vacation of about a week, which can differ from the official list, so families should always check their own school’s diary, circular or notice board before making travel plans. Where a school’s own calendar differs from the state list, the school’s calendar is the one that applies to its students.
