Haryana Police STF Officers Selected for Union Home Ministers Medal for Excellence 2026
Ten officers and personnel of the Haryana Police Special Task Force have been selected for the prestigious Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence 2026, in recognition of their exemplary work in intelligence and special operations. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini congratulated the force on the national honour, which places Haryana’s STF among the country’s recognised police units for the year. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak 2026 for 490 police personnel from states, union territories, central armed police forces and central police organisations. Of these, 358 personnel were recognised for special operations, 123 for excellence in investigation and nine for work in forensic science. The medal, instituted through a notification on 1 February 2024, recognises professional excellence, dedication to duty and outstanding contributions during challenging operations. In the Intelligence category, the Haryana STF personnel selected are Senior Superintendent of Police Wasim Akram, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep, Sub-Inspector Varun and Constable Varun Jangra. In the Special Operations category, the selected personnel are Deputy Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar, Sub-Inspector Gaurav Singh, Sub-Inspector Randeep Singh, Sub-Inspector Kapil, Sub-Inspector Sandeep and Constable Sajan Singh. The STF was recognised in the Special Operations category for its success in a comprehensive and challenging counterterrorism operation. Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal congratulated all the selected officers and personnel, saying they had taken the department’s reputation to new heights through precise intelligence gathering, strategic acumen, indomitable courage and exemplary professionalism. The selection is a moment of pride for Haryana Police, whose Special Task Force handles some of the state’s most sensitive and demanding assignments. The national medal honours not only the individual officers but also the teamwork, planning and fieldcraft behind successful intelligence-led operations, and it underlines the force’s standing among police units across the country.
