Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday announced a 3 per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners, raising both from 60 per cent to 63 per cent with effect from 1 July 2026. The decision, announced in Chandigarh on the occasion of Dhanteras, will benefit about 2.78 lakh regular state government employees and around 2.6 lakh pensioners, and will cost the state exchequer an additional Rs 545 crore in the financial year 2026-27.

On the same day, the Chief Minister transferred Rs 4,470.77 crore directly into the bank accounts of lakhs of beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, along with funds for Panchayati Raj institutions and municipalities across the state. This included the 13th instalment of the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, under which Rs 222.52 crore was deposited into the bank accounts of 10.59 lakh women beneficiaries.

Dearness allowance is the component of salary that protects government employees against price rise, and it is revised from time to time in line with the cost of living. Dearness relief is the corresponding benefit for pensioners. With this revision, employees and pensioners in Haryana will draw DA and DR at 63 per cent of their basic pay and basic pension from July 2026, and the arrears for the intervening months will flow through the normal salary and pension payment system.

The announcement comes as the state government continues its direct benefit transfer push, putting welfare money straight into beneficiaries’ accounts rather than routing it through intermediaries. For the women covered by the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, the 13th instalment is the latest in a series of monthly support payments the Saini government has used to back households across Haryana. Employees and pensioners should watch for the revised rates in their salary and pension credits for the coming months, with the July 2026 effective date applying to the calculation of arrears.
