Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has said Haryana is working towards becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2047, setting out the long-term goal during a programme in Ambala on 5 November 2026. Speaking at the inauguration of the Azadi Ki Pehli Ladai Ka Shaheed Smarak, which was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Chief Minister said the state government was moving forward with a clear roadmap for growth, employment and welfare. He also gave an account of the promises made to the people of Haryana, saying 76 of the 217 promises in the government’s sankalp, or pledge, have already been fulfilled.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Promises and Progress
According to the Chief Minister, work is under way on the remaining 141 promises, and the government intends to complete them as well. “We do not merely count promises; we fulfil them,” Nayab Singh Saini said, underlining that the government measures its work by delivery rather than announcements. He said transparent governance, merit-based recruitment and social welfare schemes remain central to the government’s approach. The statement places the promise count at the centre of the government’s report card: of 217 commitments, more than one in three has been completed, while the rest are in progress. The Chief Minister presented this as evidence that the government is keeping pace with the agenda it set before the people of Haryana.
Haryana Vision 2047: Jobs, Industry and Growth
The $1 trillion target forms part of Haryana Vision 2047, the state’s long-term plan to raise incomes, expand industry and create large-scale employment by the centenary of Independence. Under the vision, the government expects 50 lakh new jobs to be created, supported by new industrial and enterprise policies, including the Make in Haryana Industrial Policy 2026 and the MSME Policy 2026. These policies are aimed at attracting investment, supporting small and medium enterprises and opening new opportunities for young people across the state. The Chief Minister said accelerated growth, clean administration and welfare for every section of society would guide the state’s journey towards the target.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah Inaugurates Ambala Shaheed Smarak
The announcement came at the Ambala programme where Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Shaheed Smarak dedicated to the martyrs of the first war of independence in 1857. The memorial in Ambala Cantonment honours the soldiers and freedom fighters whose sacrifice is remembered as the starting point of India’s freedom struggle, and it opens to the public on 6 November 2026. At the same programme, Amit Shah also inaugurated the Rs 1,260 crore Jalbera-Shahabad section of National Highway 152G, a project expected to improve road connectivity in the region. The Chief Minister said the vision of a developed India is possible because of the sacrifice of the martyrs, linking the memorial’s message with the state’s development goals.
With the $1 trillion goal now stated publicly, the focus will be on how quickly investment, jobs and infrastructure follow. For now, the government has set out both its destination and its progress report: a $1 trillion economy by 2047, and 76 promises already delivered out of 217.
