Raipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, inaugurated the Artemis Shanti Hospital in Raipur, a super-speciality hospital built at a cost of Rs 400 crore. The 350-bed facility, equipped with 11 Centres of Excellence and advanced robotic surgery services, is designed to provide tertiary-level medical care to patients across Central India. Shah inaugurated the hospital in the Pandri area of Raipur during his one-day visit to Chhattisgarh for the closing ceremony of the state’s Rajyotsav celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah said Chhattisgarh, once known for Naxalite violence, is today progressing rapidly towards becoming Naxal-free. In a post on X after the inauguration, he said the new hospital, built at a cost of Rs 400 crore and equipped with modern facilities and technology, will provide tertiary-level healthcare services to the whole of Central India. His message linked the hospital directly to the state’s changing story: a region once defined by violence is now adding large, modern public infrastructure that serves ordinary families.

For patients in Chhattisgarh and neighbouring parts of Central India, the hospital’s importance lies in the level of care it brings closer to home. Tertiary care covers the most complex and specialised treatment, which has often meant long journeys to metro cities for seriously ill patients and their families. A 350-bed super-speciality hospital in the state capital, with dedicated centres of excellence and robot-assisted surgical facilities for precision-based treatment, means that advanced diagnosis, specialised surgery and follow-up care can increasingly be found in Raipur itself, saving patients time, travel and expense at the most difficult moments of their lives.

The inauguration was part of a packed day of engagements for Shah in Raipur. Later in the same visit he inaugurated the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Park in Nava Raipur and attended the closing ceremony of the three-day Chhattisgarh Rajyotsav, which marked the state’s Foundation Day. During the Rajyotsav programme he also released the 33rd instalment of the state’s Mahtari Vandan Yojana, transferring more than Rs 632 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 67.4 lakh women. Together, the hospital opening and the women’s welfare transfer framed the visit as a development visit, pairing new health infrastructure with direct financial support to families.

Health infrastructure of this scale also carries wider benefits for the state beyond the hospital’s wards. A large super-speciality hospital creates skilled medical and support jobs, gives young doctors and nurses a place to train and build careers at home, and strengthens Raipur’s position as a regional healthcare centre. For a state working to leave its troubled past behind, the opening of a modern hospital in its capital is a visible sign of that change: investment, expertise and services arriving where they are most needed, and a promise to patients across Central India that advanced care no longer requires leaving the region.
