Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday ordered strict action against officials in Gurugram, sending a clear message that negligence in public work will invite consequences. Chairing the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting in Gurugram on 4 November 2026, the Chief Minister ordered a 50 percent salary cut for three months for two municipal officials who had created property IDs without approval, along with chargesheets against them and their transfer out of Haryana’s NCR districts. At the same meeting, he suspended a patwari of the Municipal Corporation Gurugram for misbehaving with a citizen and ordered a one-month salary cut for a Public Works Department executive engineer over poor road restoration work.

The action followed public complaints about procedural lapses in the creation of property IDs in the Pataudi-Jatauli Mandi area. Property IDs are a basic building block of municipal records: residents need them for property tax, certificates and other civic services, and any irregularity in their creation can cause long-running trouble for ordinary families. The Chief Minister directed that the municipal engineer and the building inspector involved face a 50 percent pay deduction for three months, formal chargesheets and transfer outside the NCR districts, so that the lapse is dealt with both financially and administratively.

The patwari’s suspension came after a citizen’s complaint about improper conduct during public dealing. A patwari is often the first point of contact for villagers and city residents in land and revenue matters, and the Chief Minister’s immediate suspension order underlines that discourteous or improper behaviour towards citizens will not be tolerated. Separately, the PWD executive engineer was docked one month’s salary after road restoration work under his charge was found to be poor, a reminder that the quality of public works is reviewed at the highest level.

The District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee is a monthly forum where the Chief Minister hears complaints directly from residents, with district officers present on the spot. The format allows grievances that have lingered in offices to be raised in person and directions to be issued immediately, rather than through long files. Wednesday’s meeting in Gurugram followed that pattern, with the Chief Minister taking note of specific complaints and passing orders on the spot.

The decisions fit the Saini government’s broader emphasis on accountable administration and citizen-first governance. Chargesheets mean formal disciplinary proceedings will follow the pay cuts, and transfers out of the NCR districts add a further deterrent for officials posted in the state’s most high-profile region. For Gurugram’s residents, the message is practical: complaints raised at the grievance meeting can lead to visible action, property-record irregularities will be corrected, and the officers responsible for poor civic work will be held to account.
