Kurukshetra: The National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra), Haryana, has invited applications for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) post under Advertisement No. 34/2026, dated 19 October 2026. The fellowship is Rs 37,000 per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA). Applications must be sent by email, and the last date for receiving applications is 16 November 2026. There is no online application form for this post, and incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will be rejected.

The JRF will work on a research project titled Mid-IR Light Generation in Nonlinear Materials using Four-Wave-Mixing. In simple terms, the project studies how specially chosen materials can generate mid-infrared light through a nonlinear optical process called four-wave mixing, an area with applications in sensing and advanced optical systems. The work sits in the research environment of NIT Kurukshetra, one of Haryana’s leading technical institutes, and the selected candidate will be encouraged to join and complete a Ph.D. degree at NIT Kurukshetra.

For eligibility, candidates must hold a post-graduation degree in Basic Sciences or Engineering with 60 percent aggregate marks, or an average CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale for general-category candidates. Marks will be relaxed by 5 percent, or by a CGPA of 0.5 on a 10-point scale, for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Applicants in the final year of their Master’s programme who have submitted their dissertation or thesis but do not yet have their final-semester results by the application deadline may still apply, but they must submit their results by 31 December 2026, otherwise any JRF offer made to them will be cancelled. A CSIR, UGC-NET, GATE or GPAT qualification is desirable for this post.

Selection will be by written test and interview in physical mode at NIT Kurukshetra. The upper age limit is 32 years as on 16 November 2026. Candidates should send a soft copy of their application, with an updated curriculum vitae and copies of relevant certificates, by email to the lead Co-Principal Investigator as specified in the official notification, on or before 16 November 2026. Because the notification gives the exact email address and application format, candidates must read Advertisement No. 34/2026 on the official NIT Kurukshetra website, nitkkr.ac.in, and follow it exactly before applying, rather than relying on any summary.
