Class 8 students in Haryana who registered for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme will sit the state-level selection exam on 29 November 2026, with 2337 scholarships on offer across the state’s districts.

The exam is conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Haryana for students of government and government-aided schools. It is an OMR-based written test in two parts: the Mental Ability Test and the Scholastic Aptitude Test, each carrying 90 questions for 90 marks in 90 minutes, with no negative marking. The exam window runs from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Registration for the 2026-27 cycle ran from 24 September to 24 October 2026 and has closed, and the correction window of 25 to 31 October has also ended. No fresh applications are being accepted now. The admit card date is yet to be announced; it will be released before the exam on the official website, scertharyana.gov.in, and registered students should watch that site rather than relying on forwarded messages.

The scholarship is worth Rs 1,000 a month, or Rs 12,000 a year, paid through direct benefit transfer for Classes 9, 10, 11 and 12. The 2337 Haryana scholarships are distributed district-wise against each district’s quota, with reservation of 20 percent for SC students, 16 percent for BC-A, 11 percent for BC-B and 3 percent for divyang students, and the remainder for the general category. Eligibility for the exam required passing Class 7 with at least 55 percent marks for general-category students and 50 percent for SC and BC students, with a family annual income below Rs 3,50,000.

Being on the merit list is not the final step. Selected students must later apply on the National Scholarship Portal, which opens around June or July 2027, and submit an income certificate verified by the SDM or Tehsildar to the District Education Officer. Students and parents should keep their registration details and school records ready, and check scertharyana.gov.in for the admit card announcement as 29 November approaches.
