Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day: CM Mohan Yadav Distributes Rs 490 Crore to 950 MSME Units and Rs 1.50 Crore to Startups
Madhya Pradesh marked its Foundation Day on 1 November 2026 with a major push for small businesses, as Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav distributed financial support to hundreds of enterprises at a single event in Bhopal. The disbursement took place at the Udyam Sammelan entrepreneurship conference held at the Chief Minister’s residence, where MSME Minister Chaitanya Kumar Kashyap was also present. Through a single-click transfer, Rs 490 crore was released to 950 micro, small and medium enterprises under the Madhya Pradesh MSME Development Policy. When startup assistance is included, the total support in this round was about Rs 491.50 crore. More than 100 startups received about Rs 1.50 crore under the Madhya Pradesh Startup Policy 2025, a sign of the state’s effort to encourage new ventures alongside established small firms. The scale of the units supported is considerable. The 950 MSME units have together invested more than Rs 7000 crore and support over 17000 direct and indirect jobs, underlining how important such enterprises are for employment outside the largest cities. At the same event, five entrepreneurs received land allotment intent letters, while four received loan cheques under the Mukhyamantri Udyam Kranti Yojana, which helps young and first-time entrepreneurs start businesses. Officials said total grants in 2026-27 are expected to reach Rs 1085 crore including this round, after Rs 1300 crore was distributed in 2025-26. The state also reported progress in its startup ecosystem, with 2081 startups now recognised by the Government of India, including 1302 added during 2026-27. The Foundation Day programme was presented as more than a ceremonial occasion. For the state government, it was an opportunity to show that support for small industry and startups is reaching the ground, through direct transfers rather than lengthy paperwork. For the entrepreneurs present, the assistance is expected to help expand capacity, meet working capital needs and create further jobs in their districts. The single-click model also reflects a wider change in how welfare and business support are delivered, with money reaching beneficiaries at a public event in Bhopal on the state’s birthday.
