UP Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026: UPSSSC Opens 1536 JE Posts From November 3
The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has announced recruitment for 1,536 Junior Engineer posts, offering a major opportunity for diploma-holding technical candidates in the state. The recruitment covers 1,156 Junior Engineer (Mechanical) posts and 380 Junior Engineer (Electrical) posts, advertised separately on 12 October 2026.
Applications for the Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Main Examination open on 3 November 2026 and close on 25 November 2026, with fee reconciliation and permitted corrections allowed until 2 December 2026. Applications for the Junior Engineer (Electrical) Main Examination open on 6 November 2026 and close on 27 November 2026, with corrections allowed until 4 December 2026. The two drives carry separate advertisement numbers — 24-Exam/2026 for Mechanical and 25-Exam/2026 for Electrical — and candidates should apply under the advertisement matching their qualification.
Only candidates who appeared in the UPSSSC Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025 and hold a PET-2025 scorecard are eligible to apply. Shortlisting for the main examinations will be based on normalised PET-2025 scores and merit, and candidates whose actual or normalised scores are zero or negative will not be shortlisted. Candidates whose PET-2025 results fall under the Under Investigation or Provisional categories have been allowed to apply conditionally until a final decision is reached.
For Mechanical posts, applicants generally need a three-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering, while Electrical posts require a diploma in Electrical Engineering; the detailed advertisements on the commission’s website give the post-wise eligibility, age limits and departmental distribution. Mechanical posts are spread across departments including Irrigation and Water Resources and the Public Works Department, while Electrical posts include openings in the PWD Chief Engineer’s office, UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, the Directorate of Electrical Safety and state universities. The application fee is Rs 25 for all categories.
