State Bank of India has invited online applications for 60 Specialist Cadre Officer posts in its security cadre, offering retired defence and paramilitary officers a regular banking career. Under Advertisement No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/28, dated 4 November 2026, the bank will recruit Manager (Security) in Middle Management Grade Scale-III and Deputy Manager (Security) in Middle Management Grade Scale-II. The online registration window opened on 4 November 2026 and will close on 25 November 2026, and applications can be submitted only through the SBI careers portal. The number of vacancies is provisional and may change according to the bank’s actual requirement.

The 60 vacancies are advertised jointly for the two posts, and selected officers may be posted anywhere in India. The category-wise break-up is 25 posts for unreserved candidates, 16 for Other Backward Classes, 9 for Scheduled Castes, 6 for Economically Weaker Sections and 4 for Scheduled Tribes. The posts are on a regular basis, not on contract, which makes this drive particularly attractive for officers leaving uniformed service who want a stable second career with a public sector bank. Candidates must apply online within the window, as no offline application route has been provided.

Eligibility is tightly defined around uniformed service. Applicants must be Indian citizens and graduates, and they must have served as commissioned officers in the Indian Army, Navy or Air Force, or as officers in paramilitary forces, for the period prescribed in the official notification. They must also hold medical fitness in SHAPE-1 or an equivalent category. The age limit is 25 to 40 years as on 31 October 2026, with the usual relaxations for reserved categories as per government rules. Candidates should read the full official advertisement on the SBI careers website before applying, since the service-length and fitness conditions are specific to this cadre.

Pay is at public sector bank officer scales, with allowances on top. The Manager (Security) post carries a scale starting at Rs 85,920 per month and rising to Rs 1,05,820, while the Deputy Manager (Security) post starts at Rs 64,820 and rises to Rs 93,960. In addition, selected officers will receive dearness allowance, house rent allowance, city compensatory allowance, provident fund, National Pension System benefits, leave fare concession and medical facilities as per bank rules. The application fee is Rs 750 for unreserved, EWS and OBC candidates, while SC and ST candidates pay no fee.

Selection will be through an online written test followed by an interview, with the examination tentatively scheduled for December 2026 or January 2027. The bank has described the later-stage schedule as tentative, so candidates should watch the careers portal for the admit card and interview dates after applying. For officers with leadership experience in the armed forces or paramilitary forces, this is one of the few large regular bank recruitments aimed specifically at their background, and the 25 November deadline leaves about three weeks to complete the online form, pay the fee where applicable, and verify every detail before submission.
