Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh has administered the oath of office to Satish Kumar as the new Chairman of the Haryana Public Service Commission. Kumar took the oath of allegiance, office and secrecy at a ceremony in Chandigarh, formally taking charge of the state’s constitutional recruitment body.

The swearing-in was held in the presence of Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan and Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan. Family members of the newly appointed chairman were also present on the occasion.

Satish Kumar is a former Haryana Civil Service officer who took voluntary retirement before joining as chairman. His last posting was as Deputy Secretary in the Haryana Public Service Commission itself, giving him long familiarity with the working of the body he will now head.

He succeeds Alok Verma, whose six-year tenure as chairman ended recently. The Haryana Public Service Commission is responsible for recruiting candidates to Group A and Group B posts in the state government, and its chairman plays a central role in keeping that recruitment machinery running fairly and on schedule.

With a new chairman in place, the commission’s ongoing recruitment work — from examinations to recommendations — continues under fresh leadership. The appointment comes at a busy time for the commission, which handles some of the state’s most sought-after government posts. For aspirants across Haryana, the change at the top is a reminder that the commission’s examination and selection calendar will proceed under Kumar’s chairmanship, with the state government and the commission working in step on the recruitment pipeline.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s presence at the ceremony underlined the state government’s backing for the new chairman as he takes up one of Haryana’s key constitutional assignments.
