Delhi DSSSB Recruitment 2026: 25 Sweeper and Chowkidar Posts, Apply by November 11
The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has invited online applications for 25 Group C posts of Sweeper / Safai Karamchari and Chowkidar in the District and Sessions Courts, Delhi. The recruitment is covered by Advertisement No. 05/2026, dated 9 October 2026. Online applications opened on 13 October 2026 at noon and will close on 11 November 2026 at 11:00 pm, so candidates who meet the eligibility conditions should complete their forms well before the deadline rather than waiting for the last evening, when the portal is usually at its busiest.
The 25 vacancies are split into 10 Sweeper / Safai Karamchari posts, with post code 46/26, and 15 Chowkidar posts, with post code 47/26. The category-wise break-up is 12 unreserved, 6 Other Backward Classes, 3 Scheduled Castes, 2 Scheduled Tribes and 2 Economically Weaker Section posts. One ex-serviceman vacancy is included within each post total. The advertisement describes all figures as tentative, which means the numbers may increase or decrease depending on the requirements reported by the user department, the District and Sessions Courts.
Eligibility is kept simple and accessible. Applicants for both posts must have passed Matriculation, that is Class 10, or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. No essential experience is prescribed for either post. The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 1 June 2026, which means candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 June 1999 and not later than 1 June 2008, with both dates included. Age relaxation is available to eligible categories under the rules set out in the advertisement. One point needs special care: only Other Backward Classes candidates notified by the Government of NCT of Delhi receive OBC reservation and age-relaxation benefits, while OBC candidates from outside Delhi are treated as unreserved, and applicants claiming OBC (Delhi) benefits must meet the certificate and non-creamy-layer conditions in the notification.
The posts carry the pay scale of Rs 5,200 to Rs 20,200 plus grade pay of Rs 2,000, as Group C posts in the District and Sessions Courts. The application fee is Rs 100, payable online only through SBI e-pay, and it is non-refundable. Women candidates and candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and eligible ex-servicemen are exempt from the fee, subject to the specific conditions in the notification, including a restriction for ex-servicemen who have already secured regular civil employment after using ex-serviceman reservation benefits. Selection will be made through an objective, multiple-choice examination of 100 marks followed by an interview of 15 marks. The written test has 25 questions each from English, Hindi, general knowledge including current affairs, and arithmetic, lasts 120 minutes, or 160 minutes for Persons with Disabilities candidates, and carries negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer. The minimum qualifying marks in the objective test are 50 percent for unreserved and Economically Weaker Section candidates and 45 percent for OBC (Delhi), Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Persons with Disabilities and ex-servicemen candidates, and up to ten times the number of vacancies may be called for interview. The final merit list will be prepared by the District and Sessions Courts, Tis Hazari, Delhi, on the basis of the objective examination and the interview, and the examination and interview dates will be notified separately.
To apply, candidates must first complete the one-time registration on the official DSSSB online portal at dsssbonline.nic.in, then sign in, select Advertisement No. 05/2026 and the correct post code, enter personal, educational and category details exactly as supported by their documents, upload the required photograph, signature and certificates in the prescribed format, pay the applicable fee through SBI e-pay unless exempt, and submit the form before 11 November 2026 at 11:00 pm, saving the application and payment acknowledgement. Applicants should read the complete notification carefully before submitting, especially the age cut-off, the OBC (Delhi) certificate requirements and the fee-exemption conditions, because requests to change application particulars after submission will not be entertained. Candidates are advised to verify every detail in the official advertisement on dsssb.delhi.gov.in before applying.
