Haryana to Honour Asian Games and Para Games Athletes at Bhiwani Ceremony Today: CM Saini Chief Guest
Haryana will honour its outstanding sportspersons at a state-level ceremony at Bhim Stadium in Bhiwani on Friday, October 30, with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attending as chief guest. The ceremony will felicitate athletes from the state who took part in the Asian Games and Asian Para Games 2026, including medal winners. The athletes will be presented with cash awards, and government job offers will also form part of the honour, recognising both their performances and their future careers.
Haryana’s athletes made a major contribution at the recently concluded Asian Para Games, helping secure 31 medals, including nine gold medals. The state’s share accounted for about 30 per cent of the total gold medals won, a record that underlines why Haryana continues to be counted among India’s strongest sporting states. Sports Minister of State Gaurav Gautam said medal winners at the Asian and Para-Asian Games would receive cash awards worth several crores of rupees at the ceremony. The total cash prizes to be distributed at the event are reported at Rs 185 crore, reflecting the scale of the state’s reward system for its champions.
The Bhiwani programme will go beyond the felicitation itself. It will also feature a women’s Haryana-style kabaddi match between teams from Haryana and Punjab, along with a wrestling competition, with winners of the wrestling competition receiving cash incentives. The ceremony is part of Haryana’s long-standing policy of rewarding sporting excellence with both money and secure employment, a model that has helped the state produce a steady stream of international medal winners. By honouring its Asian Games and Para Games athletes together, the government is signalling that para-sport achievements carry the same prestige as mainstream sporting success. For young athletes watching from districts across Haryana, the Bhiwani ceremony is meant to be an inspiration: success on the international stage brings recognition from the state itself, in front of a home crowd.
