Gadkari Clears Rs 826 Crore Highway Projects in Haryana and Rajasthan Sohna Elevated Corridor
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has cleared highway projects worth Rs 826.66 crore in Haryana and Rajasthan, including a six-lane elevated corridor at Sohna Chowk in Nuh district. The package covers a 2.75-kilometre elevated stretch in Haryana and a 19.22-kilometre four-lane upgrade in Rajasthan, and is expected to ease congestion, improve freight movement and strengthen links between two major expressways.
In Haryana, Rs 340.78 crore has been approved for the elevated corridor at the junction of National Highway 919 and National Highway 248A at Sohna Chowk. The six-lane structure is designed to give signal-free movement at one of the busiest points on the Gurugram-Nuh route. By taking through traffic above the junction, it will separate vehicles travelling between Gurugram and Nuh from local traffic using Sohna town, reducing delays at the crossing and improving safety for pedestrians and local commuters.
The corridor is also important for the wider road network. It will strengthen connections to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and to the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway, giving travellers from Nuh and neighbouring areas faster access to long-distance routes. For daily commuters, traders and transport operators, the project should mean shorter journey times and more predictable travel, especially during peak hours when the present junction comes under heavy pressure.
In Rajasthan, Rs 485.88 crore will be spent on upgrading a 19.22-kilometre stretch of National Highway 25 from the Pachpadra Bypass to the Patau Interchange in Balotra district to four lanes. The improved road will support freight movement in the region, including access to the Pachpadra refinery area, and will link with National Highway 754A and the Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway at Patau. A wider, smoother highway should also help local businesses, farmers and industries move goods more efficiently.
Together, the two projects show how targeted investment at congested junctions and on busy freight corridors can improve both local travel and inter-state connectivity. The Sohna elevated corridor addresses a long-standing bottleneck for Haryana commuters, while the Rajasthan upgrade improves a key link for the western part of the state. Once completed, the works are expected to cut travel time, reduce accidents linked to congestion and support economic activity along both routes.
