Amit Shah to Lead BJP Uttar Pradesh Campaign with 18 Division Rallies and Ayodhya Deepotsav on November 7
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will spearhead the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 assembly elections, with rallies planned across all 18 administrative divisions of the state.
Shah’s address to the BJP state working committee in Lucknow on Friday was the first in a series of engagements designed to energise the organisation before the election, party sources said. He is also likely to be the chief guest at Ayodhya’s Deepotsav celebrations on November 7 and address a public gathering there.
The 10th edition of the festival of lights on the Saryu ghats will mark his first visit to the Ram temple town for the event, and he is expected to offer prayers before Ram Lalla in the newly constructed temple. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has extended the invitation, and BJP national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Vinod Tawde has told party functionaries that Shah will address rallies across all divisions as part of the mobilisation drive.
After Diwali, Shah is expected to address rallies in the remaining divisions, effectively covering the whole state. The BJP has also proposed at least 20 rallies by Prime Minister Narendra Modi across Uttar Pradesh, with a minimum of three programmes in each of the party’s six organisational regions — Kashi, Gorakhpur, Awadh, Kanpur-Bundelkhand, Brij-Rohilkhand and West UP — though the final schedule is subject to approval from the Prime Minister’s Office.
At the Lucknow working committee meeting, attended by more than 2,500 party workers, Shah praised the Yogi Adityanath government for robust law and order and development initiatives. The party has set a target of winning 325 to 350 seats in the 2027 assembly elections as it seeks a third consecutive term in India’s most populous state.
Shah also pitched the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code as the BJP’s next major agenda item in Uttar Pradesh, saying a fresh mandate would pave the way for it. Drawing parallels with the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram temple, he said the BJP had consistently delivered on its ideological commitments. The message to the cadre was clear: the organisational machine must be ready across every division, and the campaign will run on development, law and order and the party’s core promises.
