The Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is the biggest direct support for farmer families in Haryana. Under the scheme, every eligible farmer family gets ₹6,000 a year — paid as ₹2,000 in three instalments, directly into the Aadhaar-linked bank account. The scheme began on 24 February 2019, and in July 2026 the Union Cabinet approved its continuation till 2030-31, with an outlay of ₹3.15 lakh crore. The 24th instalment was released on 30 October 2026 — ₹18,690 crore reaching 9.34 crore farmers.

What PM Kisan is and who gets it

PM-KISAN is a Central scheme, run by the Government of India, and its benefits reach farmers across the country, including Haryana. It gives income support to farmer families that hold cultivable land in their name. The ₹6,000 a year helps with seeds, fertiliser, irrigation and other farming expenses. The money comes by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) straight into the bank account, so there is no middleman in between.

Three things must be complete to receive the instalment — the bank account must be linked to Aadhaar, the land record must be seeded on the PM-KISAN portal, and e-KYC must be done.

When and how the instalment comes

The three instalments of the year arrive in fixed windows — the first between April and July, the second between August and November and the third between December and March. The money goes into the same Aadhaar-linked bank account. To check your instalment status, visit pmkisan.gov.in, open Beneficiary Status in the Farmers Corner, and enter your Aadhaar number, bank account number or mobile number.

Why e-KYC is essential

Without e-KYC, the instalment does not come — this is the most common reason instalments stop. e-KYC can be done in three ways — by OTP on pmkisan.gov.in (the eKYC tab), by biometric at the nearest CSC centre, or by face authentication on the PM Kisan mobile app. The OTP method is free; if your mobile is not linked to Aadhaar, use biometric e-KYC at a CSC centre.

How to apply

New farmers can apply on pmkisan.gov.in — go to Farmers Corner and click New Farmer Registration. Applications are also taken at the nearest CSC centre or through the village Patwari. Registration is free — never pay anyone for it.
