Haryana Cotton Procurement 2026-27: MSP ₹8,267, How Much Will Narma Fetch
Procurement season is in full swing for Haryana’s cotton farmers — arrivals of narma (American cotton) are at their peak in the mandis of Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar and Dabwali in October–November 2026. The central government has already announced the minimum support price (MSP) for cotton in 2026-27: ₹8,267 per quintal for medium-staple narma and ₹8,667 per quintal for long-staple desi cotton. Both are up ₹557 per quintal on last year.
Buying is handled by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), which registers farmers, books slots and makes payments through the Kapas Kisan app. Good-quality narma is even fetching above MSP in Sirsa’s mandis — on 6 November 2026, narma touched ₹9,001 per quintal at the Ellenabad mandi. This guide brings together the full MSP picture, Kapas Kisan registration, CCI centres, mandi rates, quality rules and the payment process in one place.
| Cotton Variety | 2025-26 MSP | 2026-27 MSP | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medium staple (narma / American) | ₹7,710 per quintal | ₹8,267 per quintal | +₹557 |
| Long staple (desi cotton) | ₹8,110 per quintal | ₹8,667 per quintal | +₹557 |
How Much Did MSP Rise, and Who Fixed It?
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the MSPs for kharif crops on 13 May 2026. The cotton increase was the second-largest absolute rise among all kharif crops. MSPs are fixed at a level of at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production.
- Announced: 13 May 2026, by the CCEA (chaired by the Prime Minister)
- Medium-staple MSP: ₹8,267 per quintal (₹7,710 in 2025-26)
- Long-staple MSP: ₹8,667 per quintal (₹8,110 in 2025-26)
- Buying agency: Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) — the central nodal agency; NAFED supplements CCI’s procurement
- Applies to: Kharif marketing season 2026-27
Narma vs Desi Cotton — Which Variety Fetches What?
Haryana grows two kinds of cotton, and the government price differs for each. The difference matters because open-market rates for the two also move differently.
- Narma / American cotton (medium staple): MSP ₹8,267 per quintal. This is most of Haryana’s cotton — the variety sold in Sirsa, Fatehabad and Hisar. Good-quality narma also fetches above MSP in the open mandi.
- Desi cotton (long staple): MSP ₹8,667 per quintal — ₹400 more than narma on paper. But in the open market, desi cotton often trades below narma, so check both rates before selling.
Note — you get the MSP of the variety your cotton actually is. The procurement centre tests the variety and quality before fixing the price.
How Does CCI Buy? Registration on the Kapas Kisan App
Government cotton buying is now fully digital. CCI’s Kapas Kisan mobile app lets farmers register themselves, book slots and track payments.
Registration steps:
- Download the app: Install the Kapas Kisan app on your phone (information is also on CCI’s official website, cotcorp.org.in).
- Register with Aadhaar: Register using your Aadhaar number — this links your identity and bank account.
- Enter crop and land details: Fill in your cotton variety, estimated production and field details. Keep your registration updated on Meri Fasal Mera Byora (fasal.haryana.gov.in) — the same record is used in procurement.
- Book a slot: The app offers 7-day rolling slot booking — pick a convenient date and the nearest procurement centre.
- Bring your cotton to the centre: Take your cotton to the centre on the fixed date. After a quality check and weighing, it is bought at MSP.
- Track payment: Payment goes directly to your bank account — track its status in real time on the app.
Documents usually needed: Aadhaar card, bank passbook/account details, fard or land record, and a mobile number. Carry copies when you visit the procurement centre.
Please note: No separate official announcement of a Haryana-specific registration deadline for this season has been found so far — check the live window for your district on the app itself. In past seasons, some states had a 31 October deadline, so do not delay registration.
Haryana’s Main Cotton Mandis and Latest Rates

In past seasons, CCI procurement centres in Haryana have operated at places like Adampur, Dhigawa (Loharu) and Uklana. Check the current season’s centre list on the Kapas Kisan app or cotcorp.org.in — do not rely on an old list without verification.
Quality Rules: Moisture Above 8% Means a Deduction
CCI checks quality when it buys cotton. The most important rule is about moisture:
- Cotton with moisture up to 8% is bought at the full MSP.
- Cotton with moisture above 8% faces a deduction from the MSP — the higher the moisture, the bigger the deduction.
- Excess soil, leaves or other impurities in the cotton also lower the price.
So dry your cotton well in the sun and clean it before taking it to the mandi or procurement centre. Selling wet cotton at a discount is certain — drying it in the sun is the easiest fix.
When and How Will You Be Paid?
After selling your cotton, the biggest question is payment. Under CCI’s system, payment goes directly to the farmer’s bank account — not through commission agents (arhtiyas) as in wheat and paddy procurement.
- Payment method: Directly to your bank account (DBT)
- How to track it: Real-time payment tracking on the Kapas Kisan app
- Where to complain: If payment is delayed, contact the CCI officer at your procurement centre, the district agriculture officer or the Agriculture Department
- Helpline: Kisan Call Centre 1800-180-1551 (toll-free)
Keep your weighing receipt, slot booking details and bank account details safe — these are the papers you will need if you have to raise a payment complaint.
5 Things to Remember Before Selling Cotton
- Know the MSP before you go: Narma ₹8,267, desi ₹8,667 per quintal. Before selling below that, check the CCI centre option.
- Register on the Kapas Kisan app: CCI centres do not buy without registration and a slot — book your slot on the app first.
- Dry your cotton: Moisture above 8% means a deduction from MSP — drying it well in the sun pays.
- Check the same day’s mandi rate: Mandi rates change daily — decide on the rate of the day you sell.
- Take the weighing receipt: Always take a receipt when your cotton is weighed and match the weight on it with your own slip.
