Graduates looking for a start in India’s public-sector insurance industry have a fresh opportunity, with National Insurance Company Limited opening applications for 200 Graduate Apprentice posts for 2026-27. The recruitment is being conducted under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme, and the official notification is dated 4 November 2026. Online applications opened the same day and will close on 18 November 2026, so interested candidates have a short two-week window to complete their applications through the NATS portal.

The 200 training seats are spread across 14 states, and candidates must choose one state when they apply. Because the seats are provisional, the final number may rise or fall according to the company’s requirements, but the notification confirms 200 seats at this stage. The engagement is for apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and it is important for applicants to understand clearly that this is a training opportunity and not a permanent government job. For young graduates, however, a year of structured training inside a Government of India insurance undertaking is a strong first step into the sector.

Eligibility is kept broad on qualifications but strict on a few conditions. Applicants must hold a regular, full-time graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised institution, and they must possess the degree certificate as on 1 April 2026. The age limit is 21 to 30 years as on 1 April 2026, with relaxation applicable as per the rules. At the same time, the notification bars certain candidates: those who already hold a postgraduate degree or a completed integrated postgraduate qualification, those who have already undergone apprenticeship training, and those with at least one year of work experience as on 1 April 2026 are not eligible for these seats.

Selected apprentices will undergo 12 months of training and will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 15000 during the training period. The training is designed to give graduates practical exposure to the working of a large general insurance company, from its branch operations to its back-office and customer-facing functions. Candidates should read the full official notification on NICL’s website, nationalinsurance.nic.co.in, before applying, since it carries the complete state-wise seat position and the detailed terms of the apprenticeship.

Applying is an online-only process through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal at nats.education.gov.in, where NICL is listed under establishment ID EWBPNC096867. Candidates who are not yet enrolled on the NATS portal should complete their enrolment first and then apply for the NICL apprenticeship within the window. With the last date fixed at 18 November 2026, applicants are advised not to wait until the final day, when portal traffic is usually at its highest, and to keep their degree details and documents ready before starting the form.
