Haryana Lado Lakshmi Yojana: CM Saini Highlights Scheme Empowering Daughters Towards Self-Reliance
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday, 29 October, spotlighted the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, the state government’s flagship girl-child welfare scheme, describing the positive change it is bringing to young women’s lives as deeply heartening.
In a post shared in both Hindi and English, Saini said the scheme is giving the daughters of the state the support to move towards self-reliance, or Atmanirbharta. The bilingual message was aimed at carrying the scheme’s story beyond Haryana’s borders, underlining how a state welfare programme is being presented as a national example.
The Lado Lakshmi Yojana is designed to provide financial assistance and structured support to girls across Haryana, covering education, health and pathways to economic independence. Its stated aim goes beyond a one-time benefit: it seeks to turn conditional support into lasting self-reliance, so that girls grow into financially independent women who can contribute confidently to society.
Saini said empowering daughters through education, financial assistance and welfare measures remains a key priority of the Haryana government. Initiatives of this kind, he said, are laying the foundation for a stronger and more inclusive future for the state, by giving girls greater opportunities and support at every stage.
The scheme sits within a longer policy lineage in Haryana. In 2015, the state launched Apki Beti Hamari Beti, offering financial incentives for the first girl child in families as a direct response to the state’s historically skewed child sex ratio. That same year, the Centre rolled out Beti Bachao Beti Padhao nationally, with Haryana among its primary focus states. Lado Lakshmi builds on that foundation, sharpening the focus from survival and school enrolment to active self-reliance.
The Chief Minister’s message on 29 October frames the scheme not as a routine announcement but as a transformation already visible in the lives of Haryana’s daughters — a shift from assistance alone to independence, education and dignity for the state’s girls.
