UP Principal and Headmaster Recruitment 2026: 2647 Posts, Apply by November 22

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, has opened recruitment for 2,647 Principal and Headmaster posts in aided non-government secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh. Reports describe it as the first such recruitment drive after a gap of thirteen years, making it a major opportunity for experienced teachers seeking school leadership roles. Of the total, 1,475 posts are for Principal (Pradhanacharya) in intermediate schools, comprising 1,318 posts in boys’ schools and 157 in girls’ schools, under Advertisement Number 08/2026. The remaining 1,172 posts are for Headmaster (Pradhanadhyapak) in high schools, comprising 1,037 posts in boys’ schools and 135 in girls’ schools, under Advertisement Number 09/2026. Online applications opened on October 23, 2026, through the commission’s official website, upessc.up.gov.in. Candidates must first complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the portal before filling the application form and paying the fee. The last date to complete registration, application and fee payment is November 22, 2026. Candidates will be able to correct their submitted applications until November 25, 2026, though certain details such as category, date of birth and gender cannot be changed after final submission. The written examination for both posts is scheduled for January 7, 2027.
