New Delhi. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), India’s flagship oil and gas public sector enterprise, has opened applications for 3,047 apprentice posts for 2026-27 under Advertisement No. ONGC/APPR/1/2026. The apprenticeship places are spread across 24 work centres in six sectors across the country, giving candidates from many regions a chance to train with a Maharatna company.

Online applications opened on 29 October 2026 and will close on 20 November 2026 at 11:59 pm. Candidates must apply online only, through the government apprenticeship portals — the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in or the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal at nats.education.gov.in — depending on the trade or discipline they choose. The official ONGC apprentice portal is ongcapprentices.ongc.co.in, and the full notification is available on ongcindia.com.

The programme covers a wide range of trades and disciplines. Trade apprentices include roles such as computer operator, electrician, fitter and diesel mechanic, while diploma and graduate apprentices cover engineering, science, commerce and other streams. Eligibility therefore ranges from Class 10 and Class 12 passes to ITI, diploma and degree holders, depending on the post applied for. Applicants must be between 18 and 24 years of age as on 29 November 2026, with age relaxation for specified categories as per government rules.

There is no written examination for this recruitment. Selection will be made on merit, based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination for the relevant trade or discipline, followed by document verification. The selection result is scheduled to be announced on 15 December 2026.

Selected apprentices will undergo 12 months of training and receive a monthly stipend ranging from Rs 8,200 to Rs 12,300, depending on their qualification and trade. Candidates should note that this is an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and not a regular government job — completing the training does not guarantee permanent employment with ONGC.

With the deadline less than three weeks away, interested candidates are advised to check the official notification carefully for their work centre, trade, domicile eligibility and portal mapping, and to submit their application well before the last date to avoid last-minute problems.
