The Railway Recruitment Boards have opened a fresh recruitment drive for undergraduate candidates under Centralised Employment Notification CEN 07/2026. This new Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) Undergraduate notification offers 1,688 posts across Indian Railways, and online applications are being accepted through the official portal rrbapply.gov.in. Candidates who have completed Class 12 should read the full notification carefully before applying, because this is a new 2026 drive and not a continuation of the earlier recruitment cycle.

The vacancies are spread across four posts. Commercial cum Ticket Clerk accounts for the largest share with 700 posts, followed by Junior Clerk cum Typist with 600 posts. Accounts Clerk cum Typist has 200 posts, while Trains Clerk has 188 posts. Together, these add up to the total of 1,688 undergraduate-level positions advertised in CEN 07/2026.

Online applications opened on 15 October 2026 and will close on 13 November 2026 at 11:59 pm. Applicants must complete the fee payment by 15 November 2026. A correction window will be available from 16 to 25 November 2026 for candidates who need to amend their submitted forms. The application fee is Rs 500, while eligible reserved-category candidates pay Rs 250, as reported.

For eligibility, applicants must have passed Class 12 with 50 percent marks. The marks condition is relaxed for SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates, and for candidates who hold a higher qualification. The age limit is 18 to 30 years as on 1 January 2027, with relaxation available for reserved categories under the government rules.

Selection will be through two computer-based tests, followed by document verification and a medical examination. There is no typing test in this cycle. The posts are placed at Pay Level 2 or 3, depending on the post. Each candidate may apply to only one Railway Recruitment Board, so the choice of board should be made carefully at the time of application. Applicants are advised to keep their registration details safe and to apply well before the 13 November deadline to avoid last-minute problems on the portal.
