The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab are likely to receive rainfall at isolated places on 11 and 12 November 2026, as a fresh western disturbance is expected to affect the western Himalayan region. Dry weather is likely to prevail from 7 to 10 November 2026, according to the IMD morning weather bulletin issued on Saturday, 7 November, which covers the week ahead.

Sunday, 8 November, which is Diwali, is expected to stay dry across Haryana, with sunny conditions, daytime temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius and night temperatures around 17 degrees. People celebrating Diwali can therefore expect dry and sunny weather through the day and into the evening. The IMD has issued no heavy rainfall or thunderstorm warning for Haryana in this spell — the expected rain is isolated to scattered showers, not a widespread downpour.

Daytime highs are expected to stay around 29–30 degrees Celsius, with night lows around 16–17 degrees, and temperatures are running above normal by 0 to 2 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD extended-range forecast. The seven-day outlook also holds a possibility of isolated rainfall on 13 November. The IMD extended-range forecast for the week of 6–12 November says no significant rainfall is likely over the state overall, so the showers on 11 and 12 November are expected to be brief and localised, and most places in the state are likely to stay dry even during that window, with only a few places seeing showers.

Day by day, the outlook is straightforward: 7, 8, 9 and 10 November are expected to stay dry, with Diwali on 8 November sunny and warm by day and cooler at night; the change comes on 11 and 12 November, when isolated showers are likely in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab; and the seven-day outlook also keeps a chance of isolated rainfall on 13 November, though no significant rainfall is expected over the state overall during the week of 6–12 November.

The dry spell through 10 November is helpful for harvesting and transport work in the mandis, where paddy arrivals continue. With paddy still arriving in the mandis, the dry days give farmers and traders time to complete harvesting and transport before the rain window. Farmers and traders should, however, keep an eye on the 11–12 November window for any open-stacked produce, so that it can be covered or moved in time if showers arrive.

The western disturbance will first bring rain to Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from 10 November, and its effect will reach the plains of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab on 11 and 12 November. The official source for the forecast is the India Meteorological Department — mausam.imd.gov.in (Chandigarh centre).
