Haryana Releases Rs 579 Crore for 6230 Gram Panchayats to Boost Village Development
The Haryana government has released Rs 579 crore for the development of 6230 gram panchayats across the state through the State Finance Commission. The funds have been transferred to the accounts of the panchayats to accelerate village-level development projects and improve basic facilities in rural areas.
Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar announced the release following a meeting with office-bearers of the Rural Sanitation Workers Union Haryana in Panipat on Saturday 31 October. He said the government under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is working to strengthen rural infrastructure and promote the overall development of villages.
The minister said the funding is intended to speed up works at the village level and improve everyday facilities for rural residents. With the money reaching panchayat accounts directly, local bodies can take up their priority works without delay.
In a separate development at the same meeting, the government reached an agreement on 17 demands raised by rural sanitation workers, with official letters issued for 12 of them. The meeting was described as positive and peaceful, and officials said necessary steps have been taken following the agreement.
A letter issued on 10 September 2026 had already outlined several benefits and instructions for rural sanitation workers. Officials present at the Panipat meeting included senior district and Panchayats Department officers along with union office-bearers, and the minister said the government remains committed to the welfare of sanitation workers and the development of every village in Haryana.
