Haryana farmers can join free five-day training programmes in modern horticulture at the Integrated Horticulture Development Centre at Sunderah in Mahendragarh, with the mushroom production batch running from 2 to 6 November 2026.
The programmes, announced by Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, are designed to connect farmers with modern and scientific farming practices. The Sunderah centre is running specialised sessions through the 2026-27 season, covering protected cultivation of vegetables, mushroom production, organic farming, open-field horticultural crops and nursery management.
The intensive practical training in mushroom production and techniques is scheduled in three batches: 14 to 18 September, 5 to 9 October and 2 to 6 November. Training in the production of horticultural crops in open fields will be held from 16 to 20 November and 7 to 11 December, while protected cultivation of vegetables will be covered from 14 to 18 December. Separate nursery management modules, prepared under the Haryana Horticulture Nursery Rules 2026 to help youth and farmers become self-reliant in nursery work, will run from 30 November to 4 December, 28 December to 1 January, 18 to 22 January, 1 to 5 February and 15 to 19 February.
Farmers aged between 18 and 60 years from all districts of Haryana can apply online through the Horticulture Department’s portal, kaushal.hortharyana.gov.in. Each training batch has 20 seats, allotted on a first-come, first-served basis, and no accommodation is available at the centre during the training. Interested farmers can contact training in-charge Dr Mukesh Shivran for further information.
For small and marginal farmers, the training offers practical skills with direct income value — mushroom cultivation, protected vegetable growing and nursery management are all enterprises that can be started on limited land. By offering the training free of cost, the state government aims to spread modern horticulture techniques beyond a few progressive farmers to every district of Haryana.
