The reopening follows an interim order of the Allahabad High Court dated 5 November 2026. The order came on writ petition number 11920/2026, filed by Abhishek Pathak and 44 other candidates. Acting on the order, the Commission activated the portal again on 6 November 2026. The Chairman of the Commission, Dr Prashant Kumar, shared the information on 6 November. The original application window for this recruitment had run from 16 September 2026 to 4 November 2026, and a correction window had been given till 7 November 2026. The fresh opportunity is an additional window created only because of the High Court’s interim order.
It is important to understand exactly who can use this reopened window. The benefit is available only to teachers who were in service on 10 August 2017 and who completed the 18-month NIOS D.El.Ed-ODL course before 1 April 2019. The Deputy Secretary of the Commission, Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh, has made it clear that this relief does not extend to every holder of a NIOS D.El.Ed certificate. It applies to the specific group covered by the writ petition. The candidature of these applicants will remain subject to the final decision of the High Court in the pending petition. The court has only permitted them to apply; it has not confirmed their final eligibility for selection.
The 12,405 posts are divided into two groups. There are 11,508 Assistant Teacher posts in urban primary schools under the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council, and 897 Assistant Teacher posts in the attached primary sections of non-government aided schools. Together they make 12,405 posts. The application fee is Rs 1,000 for General, OBC and EWS candidates, Rs 500 for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, and Rs 300 for persons with disabilities. The fee must be paid online. For general eligibility in this recruitment, a candidate needs a graduation degree along with a recognised teacher-training qualification such as BTC, D.El.Ed, B.El.Ed or Special D.El.Ed, and must have qualified the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the state government or the Government of India. Selection will be through the written examination.
Candidates who have got this second chance should apply without waiting for the last date. They should visit the official website of the Commission, upessc.up.gov.in, and open the link for Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026 (Advertisement Number 05/2026). The form must be filled with correct details of educational qualifications, service record and the NIOS D.El.Ed certificate. Wrong information can lead to cancellation of the application. The admit card will be issued on the official website before the examination. Since the portal will close again after 11 November and corrections will be possible only till 13 November, eligible teachers should complete the process at the earliest.
