Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has given a big Dhanteras gift to lakhs of families across the state. At a programme in Chandigarh on Friday, the Chief Minister transferred Rs 4,470.77 crore directly into the bank accounts of 52,02,183 eligible beneficiaries under 21 welfare schemes in a single click. The amount covered women’s financial assistance, social security pensions, funds for panchayats and municipal bodies, and the dearness allowance hike for government employees and pensioners.
The biggest announcement of the programme was the 13th instalment of the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana. Under this instalment, the Chief Minister transferred Rs 222.52 crore into the bank accounts of 10.59 lakh women. With this instalment, a total of Rs 2,689.15 crore has now reached women across the state through the 13 instalments of the scheme. The second phase of the scheme began on 17 September, and the annual family income limit has been raised to Rs 1,80,000 so that women from more families can benefit.
A large sum was also released under social security pensions. Under the state’s 15 social security pension schemes, Rs 1,135.21 crore reached 35,26,358 beneficiaries directly in their bank accounts, covering elderly people, widows and other eligible persons in need. Under the Har Ghar Har Grihini Yojana, Rs 24.25 crore was deposited into the accounts of 6.05 lakh women as the September gas cylinder refill subsidy, taking the total subsidy given under the scheme so far to Rs 404.46 crore. Under the Dayalu Yojana, 5,429 families received financial assistance of Rs 202.99 crore, and with this amount the total assistance given under the scheme so far has reached Rs 3,682.83 crore.
The Chief Minister also announced major funds for rural and urban development. For village development, a provision of Rs 2,316 crore has been made under the State Finance Commission, and Rs 1,158 crore has been released as its first and second instalments to 22 zila parishads, 143 panchayat samitis and 6,230 gram panchayats. For cities, Rs 1,727.80 crore was released to municipalities. Employees and pensioners also received a Dhanteras gift — dearness allowance and dearness relief have been raised by 3 percent with effect from 1 July 2026, taking the rate from 60 percent to 63 percent. About 2.78 lakh regular employees and 2.60 lakh pensioners will benefit from this hike.
The Chief Minister also shared updates on paddy procurement and support for beekeepers. Paddy procurement in the state’s 278 mandis, which began on 29 September, will continue till 15 November. The minimum support price is Rs 2,441 per quintal for common paddy and Rs 2,461 per quintal for Grade-A paddy. By 5 November, 48 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in the mandis, 43 lakh metric tonnes had been purchased, and Rs 9,880 crore had been paid to 2,88,102 farmers. Beekeeping has now been included in the Mukhyamantri Bagwani Bima Yojana, under which beekeepers will pay a premium of only Rs 50 per colony or box and can get an insurance claim of up to Rs 6,25,000. Honey has been included in the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana with a protected price of Rs 120 per kilogram.
