The engagement is purely contractual for one year, and the posts are being filled to clear the existing pendency of cases in the DNA Division. The 20 vacancies are divided equally — five posts each of Senior Scientific Officer (DNA), Senior Scientific Assistant (DNA), Scientific Assistant (DNA) and Lab Attendant. The consolidated monthly pay is Rs 53,100 for Senior Scientific Officer, Rs 44,900 for Senior Scientific Assistant, Rs 35,400 for Scientific Assistant and Rs 16,900 for Lab Attendant.
For Senior Scientific Officer and Senior Scientific Assistant, candidates need an M.Sc. with first division or a Ph.D. in Zoology, Physical Anthropology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or Forensic Science (with Zoology or Botany at B.Sc. level), along with five years of forensic DNA casework experience in a State or Central FSL for the senior officer post and three years for the senior assistant post. Scientific Assistants need an M.Sc. with at least second division in the same subjects with one year of forensic DNA casework experience. The age limits as on 10 November 2026 are 21 to 50 years for Senior Scientific Officer, 21 to 45 for Senior Scientific Assistant, 21 to 40 for Scientific Assistant and 18 to 40 for Lab Attendant. Candidates for Lab Attendant should check the qualification conditions in the official notification.
