The Indian Space Research Organisation has opened one of its biggest support-staff recruitments of the year, with 97 vacancies at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR), Sriharikota, the country’s main launch base, along with posts at other designated ISRO units. The recruitment is notified under Advertisement No. SDSC SHAR/RMT/03/2026, dated 19 October 2026. Online applications opened at 10 am on 19 October and will close at 11.59 pm on 9 November 2026 through the official portals shar.gov.in and apps.shar.gov.in. Candidates must apply only through these official portals and pay the fee by the same deadline. The 97 posts cover a wide range of qualifications, from Class 10 pass to first-class graduates, which makes this drive unusually broad. The largest group is Technician B, with 43 posts across trades including Fitter, Electronic Mechanic, Electrician, Chemical, Boiler Attendant, Turner, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Civil Engineering Assistant and Photography. Technical Assistant posts number 14, across Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Civil, Electrical and Computer Science, while Multi-Tasking Staff accounts for 16 posts. Other posts include Scientific Assistant, Library Assistant A and Nurse B, Draughtsman B, Fireman A, and Light and Heavy Vehicle Drivers. The notification also covers posts at units beyond Sriharikota, including the Propellant Complex at Rasayani in Maharashtra, the Balasore Rocket Launching Station in Odisha and the Advanced Data Processing Research Institute in Telangana, so applicants should check the post-wise place of posting in the detailed notice. Pay levels run from Level 1 to Level 7. Posts at Level 7, including Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Library Assistant and Nurse, carry a basic pay range of Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,42,400, with an approximate starting gross of Rs 71,840 a month. Technician and Draughtsman posts start at around Rs 34,720, Fireman and driver posts at around Rs 31,840, and MTS at around Rs 28,800, with house rent and transport allowances extra as applicable. The age limit is calculated as on 9 November 2026: 18 to 35 years for most posts and 18 to 25 years for Fireman and MTS, with five years’ relaxation for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates and three years for Other Backward Classes against reserved posts. The processing fee is Rs 750 for some post codes and Rs 500 for others, and candidates should confirm their post code’s fee before paying. Selection for technical, scientific, library, technician and draughtsman posts involves a 90-minute written test of 80 multiple-choice questions with negative marking, followed by a qualifying skill test, while MTS selection follows its own 100-question test pattern. With the deadline less than ten days away, eligible candidates should register early rather than waiting for the last evening, when portal traffic is heaviest.
