India RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026: 1265 Posts, Apply by November 25
The Railway Recruitment Boards have opened online applications for 1265 Station Master posts across the country under Centralised Employment Notice CEN 08/2026, giving graduates a chance to join Indian Railways in a front-line station operations role. Applications are accepted online only through the portal rrbapply.gov.in, and the window runs from October 27 2026 to November 25 2026 at 11:59 pm. Candidates should not wait until the last day, since a rush on the portal can lead to failed submissions.
The total of 1265 posts is the corrected figure given in Corrigendum Number 1, issued on October 27 2026. The corrigendum corrected an inadvertent mention of 1215 posts on one page of the original notice, while the railway-wise and zone-wise table in the notice already totalled 1265, so that table does not change. All other terms and conditions of CEN 08/2026 remain unchanged. From 2026 onwards, Station Master recruitment is conducted through a separate notification rather than as part of the broader Non-Technical Popular Categories process.
The post carries Pay Level 6 of the Seventh Central Pay Commission, with an initial basic pay of Rs 35,400 per month plus applicable allowances. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university, and the degree must be completed by November 25 2026. The prescribed age limit is 20 to 33 years as on January 1 2027, subject to the usual relaxations for reserved categories given in the notification. Candidates can apply to only one Railway Recruitment Board under this notice, and applying to more than one board can lead to rejection.
Selection will begin with a single-stage computer-based test of 120 minutes carrying 100 marks, replacing the earlier two-tier test pattern. Reports on the new pattern say the traditional general knowledge and general studies sections have been dropped, with the focus now on quantitative and analytical aptitude. Candidates who clear the written test will then take a computer-based aptitude test, followed by document verification and medical examination. The last date for fee payment is November 27 2026, and the application correction window runs from November 28 to December 7 2026. Applicants should rely on the detailed CEN 08/2026 notice and the official portal for the full vacancy table, fee details and eligibility conditions before submitting the form.
