Haryana Farmers Get Rs 324 Crore as PM Modi Releases PM-KISAN 24th Instalment for 9.34 Crore Farmers
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) from Banaskantha in Gujarat on Friday, October 30, sending Rs 18,690 crore directly into the bank accounts of 9.34 crore farmers across the country. Haryana is among the big beneficiaries of this round, with 16.23 lakh farmers in the state receiving about Rs 324 crore in total.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini shared the state figures at a programme in Bhiwani on Friday, where he said Rs 324.75 crore would reach 16.23 lakh farmer families in Haryana under this instalment. Bhiwani district alone accounts for 1.21 lakh of those farmers. Saini described PM-KISAN as one of the world’s largest direct benefit transfer schemes, noting that the money goes straight to farmers without middlemen.
Under PM-KISAN, every eligible farmer family receives Rs 6,000 a year in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000. The scheme has now completed 24 rounds, and more than Rs 4.47 lakh crore was paid out in the first 23 instalments. Farmers need their e-KYC complete and their Aadhaar linked to their bank account for the payment to arrive without delay.
Addressing farmers in Banaskantha, Prime Minister Modi said farmers are among the strongest pillars of the country and that his government has always put their welfare first. He said the agriculture budget has grown more than five times compared with 2013-14, and that the government absorbed the sharp rise in fertiliser prices instead of passing the burden on to farmers, spending about Rs 16 lakh crore on that account.
The Prime Minister also pointed to irrigation support through the PM-KUSUM scheme, under which about 12 lakh solar pumps have been given so far, reducing the cost of watering crops. He said earlier governments misled farmers on minimum support prices, while his government kept its MSP promise and strengthened procurement.
The release in Banaskantha was part of Modi’s two-day Gujarat visit, during which he also launched development projects worth over Rs 14,000 crore in the district. For Haryana’s farmers, however, the day’s clearest news is the money itself: Rs 2,000 per eligible family, landing directly in bank accounts, with 16.23 lakh families in the state covered in this round.
