Chhattisgarh DA Hike 2026: 2 Percent Rise to 60 Percent for Employees and Pensioners from November 1
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has announced a 2 percent increase in dearness allowance for the state’s government employees, along with a matching rise in dearness relief for pensioners. The announcement, made in Raipur on Thursday, October 29, 2026, takes the rate from 58 percent to 60 percent of basic pay and pension. The revised rates will come into effect from November 1, 2026. Around 3.85 lakh state government employees and 1.5 lakh pensioners are expected to benefit, making this one of the broadest pay-related decisions by the state government this year. Employees across departments and retired personnel drawing state pensions will both see the higher rate in their monthly payouts. The decision will cost the state exchequer an additional Rs 36 crore per month, working out to around Rs 432 crore over a full year. The Chief Minister said the decision reflects the government’s concern for employees and pensioners, and that it was taken with their interests in mind as household costs continue to rise. Dearness allowance is the component of pay that is revised to protect employees against inflation, and dearness relief serves the same purpose for pensioners. A two-point rise therefore translates directly into higher monthly income for serving staff and a higher monthly pension for retired staff, without any change to basic pay itself. The Chhattisgarh announcement follows a round of allowance revisions across the country. The Union Cabinet announced a 3 percent rise for central government employees and pensioners with effect from July 1, 2026, taking the central rate from 60 percent to 63 percent, and Madhya Pradesh announced its own 2 percent increase for state employees and pensioners on October 30, 2026. Chhattisgarh has now moved in the same direction, bringing its rate to 60 percent from November 1. For employees, the practical point is to check the November salary slip for the revised allowance at 60 percent. Pensioners should likewise see the revised relief reflected from the November payout cycle. The state government has framed the increase as a direct response to the cost of living, and the figures announced leave no ambiguity about who benefits or from when: serving employees and pensioners alike, at 60 percent, from November 1, 2026.
