The awards honour exceptional achievement and work for the empowerment and welfare of women, across fields ranging from social service and women’s empowerment to administration, entrepreneurship, sports and grassroots governance. They will be presented in eight categories, with cash prizes ranging from Rs 21,000 to Rs 5 lakh, along with citations.

The highest honour is the Sushma Swaraj Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, a citation and a shawl. The Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award carries Rs 1.50 lakh and a citation, while the Kalpana Chawla Shaurya Award and the Bahan Shanno Devi Panchayati Raj Award each carry Rs 1 lakh and a citation. Winners in the categories of government employees, social workers and women entrepreneurs will receive a cash prize of Rs 21,000, along with a citation and a shawl.

Women and Child Development Minister Shruti Choudhry has said the state government is committed to the welfare and empowerment of women, and that these awards are part of that effort to recognise and encourage women who have made outstanding contributions. Eligibility criteria, detailed guidelines and the application procedure are available on the department’s website, and applications are accepted only through the online mode.

Applications received at the district level will be scrutinised by the District-Level Recommendation Committee.
