The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board has opened online applications for 78 Surveyor Class-3 posts in the state’s Forest and Environment Department. The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement Number 467/202627, and applications are being accepted only through the OJAS portal of the Gujarat government.

Of the 78 vacancies, 35 are for unreserved candidates, 20 for Scheduled Tribe candidates, 10 for Socially and Educationally Backward Class candidates, eight for Economically Weaker Section candidates and four for Scheduled Caste candidates. The advertisement reserves 23 posts for women and seven for ex-servicemen. The board has said the number of vacancies may change.

Applicants must hold a diploma in civil engineering from a recognised technical board or university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the government. Candidates with a one-year or two-year surveyor certificate from a recognised Industrial Training Institute are also eligible. Importantly, candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering are explicitly not eligible for this post. Applicants must also have basic knowledge of computer applications and adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

Candidates must be between 18 and 33 years old as on 20 November 2026, with age relaxation available to reserved categories, women, persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen under government rules. The post also carries physical standards, including minimum height and weight requirements, and a walking test: male candidates must complete a 25-kilometre walk within four hours and female candidates a 14-kilometre walk within four hours.

Selected candidates will receive a fixed pay of Rs 26,000 per month for the first five years, followed by regular appointment in the Level-4 pay scale of Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100, subject to satisfactory service. Selection will be through a single-stage objective competitive examination, conducted as a computer-based response test or optical mark recognition test. The paper will carry 210 questions over three hours, with negative marking of one-fourth of a mark for each wrong answer, and candidates must secure at least 40 per cent marks in each part to qualify.

The application fee is Rs 500 for unreserved candidates and Rs 400 for reserved categories, and the fee is refunded to candidates who appear in the examination. Online applications opened on 30 October 2026 at 2 pm and will close on 20 November 2026 at 11:59 pm, while the last date for online fee payment is 23 November 2026. Candidates must first complete One Time Registration on OJAS before applying. The examination date will be announced later on the board’s official website, and applicants are advised to read the detailed advertisement carefully before submitting their forms.
