Uttar Pradesh Government Recruitment 2026: Faster Verification in 30 Days Under New Policy
The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a new recruitment policy that speeds up government appointments and tightens the background verification of candidates. The policy has been issued by the state’s appointments department and applies to direct recruitment across government departments. Under the new rules, police and intelligence agencies must submit their verification reports within 30 days. The move is designed to end long delays in joining, so that selected candidates are not left waiting for months after selection while their files move between offices. Candidates will be required to disclose any arrest, prosecution, conviction, pending FIR, chargesheet, preventive detention, dismissal from service or debarment by a recruitment agency. At the same time, the policy makes an important safeguard explicit: the mere registration of an FIR, a pending investigation or the filing of a chargesheet will not automatically disqualify a candidate. The tighter scrutiny applies to anyone associated with an organisation whose declared objective is to alter the existing social order through violence. Participation in any violent activity after the age of 21, or within three years preceding antecedent verification, will be treated as evidence of active involvement in such activities. The rules cover direct recruitment in state government departments, state corporations, boards, educational institutions, autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings, panchayati raj institutions and urban local bodies. The policy applies prospectively and will not affect existing government employees. To prevent recruitment delays, candidates can also join provisionally through self-declaration while verification is ongoing.
