Madhya Pradesh DA Hike 2026: 2 Percent Rise for State Employees and Pensioners, Arrears in Three Instalments
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced a 2 percent increase in dearness allowance for the state’s government employees and officers, along with a matching 2 percent rise in dearness relief for pensioners. The announcement, made on his official X handle on Friday, October 30, 2026, brings relief to lakhs of serving employees and retired personnel across state government departments.
For serving employees and officers, the enhanced dearness allowance will be effective from January 2026. The arrears for the nine-month period from January to September 2026 will not be paid in one lump sum; instead, they will be cleared in three equal monthly instalments. The increased allowance itself will be paid in cash along with the October salary, which employees receive in November, so the higher amount starts reflecting in the November pay cycle together with an instalment of the arrears.
Pensioners have been given a parallel benefit. Their dearness relief will rise by 2 percent with effect from July 2026, giving retired state government personnel a higher monthly payout in line with the serving workforce. Employees and pensioners across departments including education, health, police and revenue are among those covered by the revised rates, making this one of the broadest pay-related announcements by the state government this year.
The Chief Minister said the state government remains committed to protecting the interests of both serving employees and retired personnel and to ensuring that their entitled benefits reach them without unnecessary delay. Formal orders detailing the exact revised rates and the implementation modalities are expected to be issued by the Finance Department, which will set out how the instalments and the pensioners’ revision are processed department by department.
The Madhya Pradesh announcement follows the Union Cabinet’s decision announced on October 28, 2026, to raise dearness allowance for central government employees and dearness relief for pensioners by 3 percent, taking the central rate from 60 percent to 63 percent of basic pay with effect from July 1, 2026. State governments commonly revise their own allowances after a central revision, and Madhya Pradesh has now followed that pattern with its own 2 percent increase, timed so that employees see the benefit in their November salary.
For employees, the practical message is simple: check the November salary slip for the enhanced allowance and the first arrears instalment, and watch for the Finance Department’s formal order for the department-wise schedule. Pensioners, meanwhile, can expect the revised relief from the July 2026 effective date, with the state’s announcement confirming that their increase is part of the same decision.
