The Haryana government has invited online applications for the allotment of 2,651 new fair price shop licences across villages and urban wards in the state, in a major expansion of the public distribution network that will also create self-employment opportunities. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Haryana, is conducting the allotment through the state’s Antyodaya SARAL portal, and eligible applicants can submit their forms online until November 10, 2026.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the Public Distribution System, improving the last-mile delivery of essential foodgrains to ration card holders, and promoting women’s economic empowerment, with a share of the licences reserved for women candidates. The new depots will be spread across rural villages and urban wards, so that ration card holders can draw their monthly foodgrains closer to home.

Applicants must be residents of the village or ward for which they are seeking the licence, and must have passed Class 12 along with basic computer knowledge. The age limit is 21 to 45 years, calculated as of November 10, 2026, with age relaxation for reserved categories as per state government rules. There is no application fee for submitting the form.

To apply, candidates should visit the SARAL Haryana portal at saralharyana.gov.in, log in or create a user account, and search for the service to apply for a new fair price shop licence. Applicants will then be directed to the Haryana Public Distribution System portal, where they can check the availability of depot seats in their specific village or ward before submitting the application.

After submission, the application will go through document verification and inspection by the area inspector, and the final decision on granting the licence will be taken by the competent licensing authority. With the November 10 deadline approaching, eligible residents who wish to run a ration depot in their own village or ward should complete their applications on the SARAL portal in time.
