Haryana Jan Pratinidhi Sammelan November 2: Om Birla to Inaugurate Panchkula Conference of Public Representatives
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate a conference of public representatives in Panchkula on November 2, opening a new chapter in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha’s outreach on constitutional values. The Jan Pratinidhi Sammelan will be held at the Indradhanush Auditorium in Sector 5, Panchkula, and will bring together the state’s top constitutional functionaries, its Chief Minister and its elected representatives on one platform. Haryana Governor Asim Kumar Ghosh will be the chief guest at the valedictory session of the conference. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with sitting and former MLAs of the state, will also take part in the event. The gathering is designed to strengthen constitutional values, parliamentary traditions and democratic institutions, and to give public representatives a shared forum to reflect on their responsibilities towards the people they serve. The conference will mark the beginning of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha’s Constitution Fortnight, organised in collaboration with the Lok Sabha. A series of programmes focusing on the Constitution, the parliamentary system and democratic traditions will follow as part of the fortnight, underlining the Assembly’s effort to take constitutional awareness beyond the House and into public life. Preparations for the conference have already been reviewed at the highest level of the Assembly. Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvindra Kalyan visited the Indradhanush Auditorium on Thursday along with officials of the state government and the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat to inspect the venue and review security and accommodation arrangements. Senior officers of the district administration and police were also present during the inspection, reflecting the scale of the event and the number of dignitaries expected to attend. The Panchkula conference comes at a significant moment for Haryana, which is marking its 60th foundation year and observing National Unity Day on November 1. Together, the events place Panchkula at the centre of the state’s public calendar this week, combining a mass celebration of national unity with a formal gathering devoted to the Constitution and the democratic system. For the state’s elected representatives, the Sammelan offers a rare opportunity to hear from the Lok Sabha Speaker and to participate in a structured discussion on parliamentary practice. Organisers hope the conference will reinforce the role of elected representatives as custodians of democratic values and strengthen the bond between the legislature and the citizens it represents.
