Haryana Global City Gurugram: Rs 1 Lakh Crore Investment Expected as Saini Pitches 1000-Acre Township to Gujarat Industry
Haryana has pitched Gurugram’s ambitious Global City project to Gujarat’s industrial community, presenting the 1000-acre-plus township as a major investment destination and a future central business district for North India. The pitch formed the centrepiece of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s investment outreach during his two-day visit to Gujarat, which focused on economic opportunities and stronger ties between the two states. The project is being developed by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) across Sectors 36, 36B, 37, 37A and 37B along the Dwarka Expressway. It is envisioned as a city within a city, based on live-work-play and walk-to-work principles, on the lines of Delhi’s Connaught Place and Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. The township is expected to attract investment worth Rs 1 lakh crore. HSIIDC is developing the trunk infrastructure and auctioning plots to private developers. Companies including DLF, M3M, Godrej Properties, Sobha and Signature Global have shown interest in the project. The first-phase infrastructure contract, worth about Rs 940 crore, covers nearly 570 acres, and around 80 per cent of that work has been completed, with the remainder expected to finish by December. Haryana also showcased incentives under its Make in Haryana Industrial Policy 2026, including capital subsidies and net State GST reimbursement, with officials saying incentive disbursement will be completed within 45 days. Industries and Commerce Commissioner and Secretary Dr Amit Kumar Agrawal said Gujarat had substantial investment potential, while Haryana offered strong opportunities for investors. During the visit, Saini met Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to discuss coordination and cooperation in development, with Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh also present. Interacting with Haryanvis in Surat and Ahmedabad, Saini said the state was committed to protecting the interests of residents living outside Haryana, announcing a dedicated online portal for their grievances to be registered and resolved within a stipulated timeframe. The government has also begun steps to establish a Haryana Bhavan in Gujarat. The outreach builds towards the Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit scheduled for April 2027.
