Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will join the BJP padayatra in Karnal on November 5, as part of the party’s statewide Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy campaign in Haryana. The Karnal march is one of a series of constituency-level padayatras being held across the state under the campaign. On the same day, Shah will inaugurate the Martyrs Memorial at Ambala Cantonment before addressing a public meeting at Gandhi Maidan. The memorial honours the contributions and sacrifices of those who fought in the First War of Independence in 1857, and its inauguration is being seen as a significant moment for Ambala, a cantonment town with deep links to that history. The Karnal and Ambala programmes follow the campaign’s Haryana Day march in Rohtak on November 1, which BJP national president Nitin Nabin and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini are scheduled to attend along with state BJP president Dr Archana Gupta. Former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is scheduled to join the Faridabad constituency march on November 1. State BJP president Dr Archana Gupta has said the campaign seeks to highlight democratic values, political accountability and public welfare, and that the participation of senior national leaders will boost the morale of party workers and strengthen organisational outreach. Preparations for the marches, including worker mobilisation, coordination and logistics, have been reviewed at meetings of party office-bearers. The campaign is being organised across Haryana’s Lok Sabha constituencies, with senior leaders joining marches in different constituencies on different days. The November 5 Karnal march and Ambala memorial inauguration bring the campaign’s focus to northern Haryana, combining the party’s organisational outreach with a tribute to the martyrs of 1857.
